Virender Sehwag wishes Virat Kohli in his trademark style

Virat Kohli is currently in the middle of a purple patch in his international career. He is on a break at the moment as Rohit Sharma is leading the Indian team in the three-match T20I series against the Windies in his absence. However, the Delhi-born cricketer is expected to be back for the T20I series against Australia, which gets underway on Wednesday, November 21.

He has been on a run churning spree of late and has lately notched his 38th century in ODI century. In the series against the Windies, he racked up 10,000 runs in One Day International cricket, surpassing the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. The Indian skipper also became the first Indian and the 10th overall batsman to score three consecutive centuries in ODI cricket.

Sehwag drops a message for Kohli

Many have already started comparing him with the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and have even touted him to break a number of his records in the future. Apart from ODI cricket, he also boasts of 24 Test tons and as many as six double centuries. Kohli also has 18 half-centuries to his name in the T20I format. In the meantime, the cricketer is celebrating his 30th birthday today.

Quite expectantly, his teammates, both current and former, have showered him with wishes. Virender Sehwag also wished him on the auspicious occasion. He is an active participant in the social media and put a message for Virat in his trademark manner. Apart from Virat’s birthday, India are also celebrating the occasion of ‘Dhanteras’, which marks the first day of Diwali.

Bearing in mind Kohli’s abilities to score runs at will, Sehwag also associated him with the festival in India. He took to Twitter and wrote, “On this Dhanteras, wish you a year that is again filled with Runteras. #HappyBirthdayVirat,”
