MS Dhoni has been a household name in cricketing circles ever since he led India to an emphatic win in the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007 during his first tenure as a captain of the national team. The wicketkeeper-batsman has grown from strength to strength in the following years and has led his nation to many memorable triumphs, none bigger than the World Cup title in 2011.

In 2013 Dhoni became the first captain in the world to win all three ICC tournaments after the flamboyant Jharkhand lad guided the Men in Blue to a historic Champions Trophy triumph in England. From being a ticket collector at Kharagpur in 2001 to becoming India’s World-Cup winning captain in 2007, Dhoni’s life has been nothing short of a fairytale.

To acknowledge all his exceptional achievements a movie was made on his life which was released in theaters on 30th September last year. The biopic based movie was a blockbuster and Dhoni’s role was played by his hometown lad Sushant Singh Rajput.

Since his school days, Dhoni has been a crowd puller with his extravagant shots and swashbuckling strokeplay and that was portrayed in the movie too. During a scene in the movie, a child comes running into the teacher’s staff room and shouts out “Maahi Maar Raha hai”. Everyone stops their work and goes running into the field to catch a glimpse of the future star who went on to break many records in the international circuit.

Acknowledging the same, former Indian opener Virender Sehwag shared a sketch of MSD drawn by his son Aryavir where Dhoni is seen smashing the ball. Such has been MSD’s influence on everyone starting from kids to elders, he is always synonymous with hitting the ball out of the park. Very recently Dhoni became India’s first batsman to hit more than 200 sixes in ODI cricket.

Sharing the picture on his facebook page, Sehwag wrote, “Dhoni ‘s sketch made by my son #Aaryavir. Even in this sketch, “Maahi Maar Raha hai”. After captaining his nation successfully for 9 years, Dhoni finally stepped down from his role and handed the reigns to Virat Kohli in all three formats. Despite stepping down, Dhoni continues to be an important member of the limited-overs team.
