Virushka, Zaheer Khan-Sagarika Ghatge, headline at Indian Sports Honours

It is a well-established fact that Virushka are one of the power couples in the industry amalgamated by Bollywood and Cricket. To give competition to the duo, Zaheer Khan and Sagarika Ghatge also made an appearance at the coveted event along with Ashish Nehra and wife Sumitra.

The couples were patient enough to give the media and reporters some bytes out of the event. The star-studded programme boasted the presence of Amir Khan, R Ashwin, Hardik Pandya, Mithali Raj, Sania Mirza, Sania Nehwal, PV Sandhu, Ajinkya Rahane and many others.

Star Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin won the award for Best player in Team Sports award category at the recent Virat Kohli Foundation organized function. Kohli ruled himself out of the contention for the nomination due to his association with Sanjeev Goenka’s RP-SG group for the award event.

India’s women’s team captain Mithali Raj won the award for Best Player in the female category. She also collected the award for Team of the Year on her side’s behalf.

The other prominent sporting stars present at the event were Pullela Gopichand, Kidambi Srikanth, HS Prannoy, Sai Praneeth, PT Usha, Deepika Thakur, Navjot Kaur, Monika Malik, Somdev Devvarman, Sunil Chettri, Deepa Malik.

Star Sports presenter Mayanti Langer posed with the award winners of the event. The presenter clicked a picture with Sania Mirza who won the Sportswoman Of The Year Award in the individual sports category by overhauling the likes of PV Sindhu, Sakshi Malik, gymnast Dipa Karmakar and athlete Lalita Babar followed by cricketers Ravi Ashwin and Mithali Raj.

That said, the showstopper of the event hands down was Virushka who looked stunning the red and black combo. Zaheer Khan and fiance Sagarika Ghatge did try to give stiff competition and so did Nehra and his better half.
