A recent statement by a former Pakistan cricketer regarding the Indian Premier League (IPL), has resulted in him getting brutally trolled. While it is no secret that the Indian T20 league is one of the biggest cricketing leagues, it also happens to be one of the biggest leagues across all sports. However, there have been a few critics of the IPL as well.

One of them happens to be the former Pakistan pacer Aaqib Javed, who recently tried to demean the biggest T20 league. In a recent interview, while praising the Pakistan Super League (PSL), he said that the IPL consists of “low-quality” bowling.

The 49-year-old spoke very highly of Pakistan’s T20 league. As a matter of fact, he went on to call it the “most interesting league in the world”. He then compared the pitch conditions of both, the IPL and PSL.

Here is how Twitter reacted to Aaqib Javed’s statement

If you look at IPL, there is only one type of cricket being played there: Aaqib Javed

“This [PSL] is the most interesting league in the world, if there are no interruptions due to Covid-19 or anything else, because of the nature of the pitches. For instance, Lahore’s pitch has some support for the bowlers, whereas you see higher scores in Karachi,” said Javed while speaking to PTV Sports. “On the other hand. If you look at IPL, there is only one type of cricket being played there due to extremely flat surfaces and low-quality bowling,” he said.

As a Pakistani journalist tweeted this quote, several Twitter users replied to that tweet and criticized the former coach of the Pakistan Under-19 team for his statement. His thoughts didn’t sit well with several cricket fans, and they started to mercilessly troll the former seamer. In the process, some Twitter users even compared both the T20 leagues, in order to show that the Indian T20 league was better.

From the likes of Dale Steyn to Mitchell Starc, the IPL has seen several world-class bowlers. In fact, many pacers established themselves in the international arena only after playing the toughest T20 league in the world. Last but not the least, be it spin-friendly or swing-friendly, this league has seen all kinds of tracks.
