Former South African fast bowler Morne Morkel who bid adieu to international cricket earlier this year is all set to feature in the second edition of the T10 League. Morkel is so intrigued by the format that he wants to see T10 grow bigger and popular so that cricket can enter the Olympics.

The tall fast bowler who helped Surrey clinch their first championship title since 2002 earlier this year, believes that if the dream of cricket being played in Olympics is to be fulfilled then T10 is the way to it. Morkel who is all set to play for Bengal Tigers as a marquee player in the second season of T10 League in UAE was excited to start his new chapter in life and take an opportunity to improve his skills.

Exciting new chapter

The 34-year-old lanky fast bowler was quoted as saying to Khaleej Times, “Last year, I followed the first season quite closely. I was speaking to the guys in the South African team and watched a lot of Youtube videos.”

The Bengal Tigers’ speedster added, “I think it’s exciting for me now to start a new chapter in my life. It gives me a great opportunity to learn new things and improve my skills.”

“I still like to play a lot more T20 cricket, but it will also be a great platform for me to sharpen my skills going forward,” he affirmed, “I always look to improve my game and get better. I think this is the perfect platform for me to develop my skills and help my team win the trophy,” Morkel said.

Feeling excited to play the 10-overs format, the pacer with 544 international wickets feels responsible towards the popularity of the format and wants to give his best performance for T10 League to grow big. He was determined to put in his best skills as the veteran feels it’s the responsibility of the players to grow the popularity of the format and help it enter the Olympics.

“I think that’s for me very important to see the format grow. I want it to get bigger so hopefully, it can get to the Olympics in the future. It’s the definitely the responsibility of the players,” he added before he signed off.
