It was a great day for sports lovers on Sunday, June 11. If India women won a nail-biting thriller against England women, then Novak Djokovic won his 20th Grand Slam title after defeating the first-time finalist Matteo Berrettini in Wimbledon. The day ended with Italy bagging the Euro 2020 title after defeating England in the thriller.

The England fans had to be satisfied with a bitter loss. Always the one to have a go at the English fans and followers, Wasim Jaffer sensed the enormity of the occasion and took to his official Twitter account to post a tweet that was directed at England manager Gareth Southgate.

This time Jaffer posted a collage of the famous Bollywood movie ‘Chak De! India’ involving Shah Rukh Khan and drew parallels with Southgate. SRK’s movie revolved around Hockey, in which he was he was seen as a player, and later as a coach of the Indian women’s team, in which he helped the team win the World Cup. But as a player, he could not achieve it as he missed out on a potential match-winning penalty to Pakistan in a crucial game, which apparently didn’t go well with the fans, who felt he deliberately lost the game.

Well, the story of manager Southgate is quite similar as he also lost a penalty shootout, although not deliberately in the Euro Cup 1996 as a player, and unfortunately had to again miss out this time as a coach of the England team in 2021.

Jaffer’s accurate tweet had a perfect caption, “Only if it was a Bollywood movie”.

Wasim Jaffer always on point with his cheeky tweets

Be it wishing someone, or supporting players, or giving back to Michael Vaughan, Jaffer is always on point with his cheeky tweets. Recently, he wished former India wicketkeeper-batter MS Dhoni by using a ‘Legend vs Kids’. He posted Dhoni’s picture in which he was seen using gloves in one hand, as he was anticipating a run-out when Bangladesh were needing just two runs off one ball in the ICC T20 World Cup 2016. Jaffer also keeps taking digs at Vaughan and their fun banter always keeps the fans entertained.
