Kings XI Punjab batting coach Wasim Jaffer has given Mumbai Indians a hilarious advice after they clinched the IPL 2020 title on Tuesday. The Rohit Sharma-led side thrashed Delhi Capitals by five wickets to win their fifth IPL title. Mumbai Indians also became the second team after Chennai Super Kings to retain their IPL title.

The final did not really live up to the expectations as Mumbai Indians crossed the finishing line without facing much trouble against the first-time finalists. Batting first, Delhi Capitals posted 156 for 7 in the stipulated 20 overs. At one stage, they were reeling at 22 for 3 but eventually posted a respectable total thanks to fifties from captain Shreyas Iyer (65*) and Rishabh Pant (56).

Mumbai Indians, in reply, chased down 157 with the utmost ease. Led by Rohit, they crossed the finishing line with eight balls remaining and five wickets in hand. Rohit led from the front and top-scored for his team, scoring 68 off 51 balls with the help of 5 fours and 4 sixes. The defending champions remained ahead in the game throughout as they showed their class once again.

‘Take a couple of years off’: Wasim Jaffer

The way Mumbai Indians have been performing in recent years especially in the just-concluded edition, it won’t be wrong to say that they are looking unstoppable at the moment. The Mumbai-based franchise has won its five titles in just eight years with all of them coming under Rohit’s captaincy since 2013. No other IPL team has won the title more than three times.

The other seven teams will have to come up with something special to stop Mumbai Indians. And while only time will tell whether the teams succeeds in stopping Mumbai or not, Wasim Jaffer might have made their work easier. The former batsman has hilariously asked Mumbai Indians to take a couple of years off after their latest triumph.

Soon after the IPL 2020 final concluded, Jaffer, who has been posting some hilarious tweets in recent times, took to Twitter to give his suggestion to the reigning IPL champions, tweeting, “Congratulations @mipaltan! Now go take a couple of years off, you’ve earned it.”
