It was an average campaign for the Indian team in the 2021 edition of the T20 World Cup 2021. The latest edition of the ICC event is scheduled to take place in Australia, and there have been speculations by the cricket fraternity on the players, who can earn their tickets for the mega event. In this regard, the former Indian cricketers Wasim Jaffer and Nikhil Chopra shared their players, who can don the wicketkeeping gloves for the Indian team.

Jaffer reckoned that his first-choice pick will be KL Rahul, and then Rishabh Pant. He felt that Pant is out of form in this IPL, but can’t be out of the squad due to his match-winning abilities for the Indian team. Then he chose Dinesh Karthik as the third option and hailed his fitness and performances for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) this season.

“My first-choice wicket-keeper will be KL Rahul if the team goes ahead with only one wicket-keeper. The second one will be Rishabh Pant, who can’t be dropped as he can be the future captain of the Indian team. Although, he has not been in good form this IPL, but has won many matches for the team. The third one will be Dinesh Karthik. It will be a toss-up between Pant and Karthik. I think age is just a number, and he has good fitness, and you cannot rule out Karthik with this kind of form,” said Jaffer on Sky247.net presents ‘Not Just Cricket’ Show on CricTracker.

KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant provide balance to the team: Nikhil Chopra

Chopra reckoned that his confirmed picks will be the same as those of Jaffer, Rahul, and Pant, as they provide a fine balance to the team. He thinks in case of injury concerns to any of these two players, the replacement or backup option will depend on the role, in which they will be assigned.

“KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant are definitely in my first choice Playing XI. If you still think of any other options, in case of injury concerns, It will depend upon which position will are looking to take as a wicket-keeper. There are multiple options like you want a player to build the innings, or want a late flourish. If everything is fine, Rahul and Pant are your proven match-winner, and provide balance to the team,” said Chopra.
