India made an impressive start to their warm-ups of the T20 World Cup 2021. On Monday, October 18, Virat Kohli and Co. defeated England by seven wickets at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai. The Men in Blue tracked down the target of 189 with one over to spare. After the win, former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer tried to draw out the positives from the encounter.

Jaffer was impressed with KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan, who both scored half-centuries. Kishan made a sparkling 46-ball 70 with seven fours and three sixes before going off the park. Rahul also carried on from where he left off in the 2021 Indian Premier League. He made 51 runs off 24 balls with six fours and three sixes before Mark Wood accounted for his wicket.

Jaffer also lauded Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Ravi Ashwin for their performances with the ball. Shami picked up three wickets even as Bumrah got the scalp of Jonny Bairstow. Ashwin, on the other hand, didn’t get a wicket, but gave away only 23 runs in four overs.

In the meantime, Jaffer also took a sly dig at former England captain Michael Vaughan. He was surprised by Vaughan staying away from social media.

Jaffer took to Twitter and wrote, “3 things stood out in this win: 1: KL and Ishan with the bat. 2: Boom, Ash & Shami with the ball. 3: MichaelVaughan staying offline #INDvENG #T20WorldCup.”

Vaughan also replied to Jaffer with a hilarious message. He also said that results in warm-up matches are pretty much irrelevant and don’t hold much significance.

Vaughan replied to Jaffer and wrote, “Too busy drinking Rum on the beach Wasim … Btw … Warm up games are Irrelevant …”

After beating England, India are next scheduled to lock horns with Australia on Wednesday, October 20 at the same venue. Kohli and Co. will start their campaign in the T20 World Cup with their Super 12 match against Pakistan on Sunday, October 24 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. It’s pertinent to note that the Men in Green have never defeated India in T20 World Cups.
