Adam Milne, the fiery Kiwi fast bowler, yesterday pulled off an amazing catch at the boundary ropes to stun the Australians and dismiss their wicket-keeper batsman Matthew Wade.

Chasing 282 runs to save the series, the Aussies got off to a flier with Khawaja and Warner giving a blazing start to the innings. The stand was broken in the 17th over and there was a sudden flurry of wickets thereafter. Skipper Steve Smith, George Bailey and Glenn Maxwell succumbed to the pace of Trent Boult and Matt Henry. Warner also departed soon and Australia were off the track, reeling at 195/5.

Warner’s departure brought Matthew Wade into the middle. Wade, who is currently struggling to cement his place in the squad, needed to play a match-saving innings. However, he didn’t had the option of batting conservatively as the run rate was climbing gradually.

Hence, Wade tried to launch the attack on left arm spinner Mitchell Santner, when he came out to bowl the 33rd overs of the match. Santner pitched a short delivery. Wade skipped back and pulled the ball powerfully. The ball was heading for a six towards the midwicket boundary but Milne came running and pulled off a stunning one-handed catch at the edge boundary ropes.

Wade couldn’t believe and everyone else also felt the same for a while. Milne timed his jump to perfection caught the ball with his left hand. It took some time for the crowd to realize that the catch has been taken. Santner, who had already taken the wickets of Warner Khawaja earlier in the match, added another one to his kitty.

Australians squared off the series 1-1 in the second ODI of the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy after they defeated New Zealand yesterday in a exciting contest of cricket. It was a must win game for the Australians as they were already 1-0, down in the three-match series.
