The India vs England 1st ODI at Pune was all about Virat Kohli, Kedar Jadhav, and Team India chasing down chasing down 351 after being reduced to 63/4 at one stage. In an evening that was about his master class, one particular shot from Virat stood out as it had everyone in awe of how ridiculously easy he made it look. A couple of days into that and another video of Jonny Bairstow playing a wrist flick shot that went all the way is doing rounds on social media.

If the shot from Kohli was insane, then there is one more shot from the England wicketkeeper-batsman Bairstow would also rate among the very best. Playing in the English County Championship for Yorkshire in 2016, Bairstow executed an ‘unreal’ shot off the bowling of his English teammate Stuart Broad which went sailing over the boundary for a six.

Just as Broad came into his delivery stride Bairstow shuffled across and deposited an outside the off stump delivery over the deep square-leg fielder for a six. It was a neither a pull nor a sweep but a mixture of both. It was struck with such authority and disdain it was bound to shatter the confidence of any bowler.

Virat Kohli’s astonishing six

Virat’s short-arm jab that went sailing over the boundaries for a six. It was the 2nd delivery of the 34th over as Chris Woakes ran in and bowled a slower delivery at a short of a length area. The way Virat responded was the best example of ‘stand and deliver’.

He stood at his crease and literally dismissed the ball from his presence. It was such an authoritative shot from the Modern Master that the whole commentary panel was left scratching for words.

Nasser Hussain said, ‘Ohhh My word, What a shot that is. Short arm jab. Unbelievable’. His partner in the comm box Ravi Shastri wasn’t far away either and lauded Kohli for the extraordinary shot. He was surprised with the fact that despite being a short delivery Kohli played it with a straight bat and the ball went sailing over the ropes.
