What a jet start Andre Russell has got to his Big Bash League 2015-16 journey. After being handed over the ball by Michael Hussey in the fourth over, Russell did not take long to bring the first breakthrough. After playing two dot balls, Haddin had no answer to a full, straight and pacy delivery which rattled his stumps. Nic Maddinson came next and Russell did not give any chance to score as he ended the over without conceding a run.
A wicket maiden is a great way to start, but Andre Russell had more to offer after he came in to bowl the next over. Nic Maddinson was again back on strike. He started counter attacking and struck the second ball for a boundary over the point region. He managed a couple off a mistimed slog off the next ball. Russell tried to bring back things under his control with a slower ball which results in a dot ball. Then came the wicket taking ball.
Russell charged in and delivered one right into the block hole. This ball was fuller than the previous wicket taking delivery. Maddinson looked to back away to squeeze it through the off side, but could only manage to get a thick inside edge which went back onto the pad as the ball deflected onto the stumps. Russell was obviously happy and celebrated in his unique style.
He began with a Shoaib Akhtar like celebration and ended up by giving a salute. The Jamaican surely looks all ready and pumped up for the rest of the tournament.
