The Royal Challengers Bangalore have had a dismal run this season. Over the course of the tournament, they have had very few moments of joy. Their fans have certainly been deprived of key moments to cherish this season. One such mini-moment of glory came for them when their skipper Virat Kohli hit a lovely six over the covers during the final league game of the season.
Playing against the Delhi Daredevils, the Royal Challengers Bangalore had opted to bat first after having won the toss. Skipper Virat Kohli chose not to open in the match and it was Chris Gayle and Vishnu Vinod who opened the innings in the match. Vinod made the long walk back in the fifth over of the innings that saw Kohli arrive at the crease.
Much like the way RCB had a poor run this season, Kohli’s numbers were not impressive either. He had a couple of fifties to his name this season and both coming in losing cause. Hence, the morale was expected to be down and out for the dynamic batsman. Kohli made a good statement in the game by scoring yet another fifty this season. He top scored for the team in the match and ended with a score of 58 to his name.
His effort of 58 cam in 45 balls with 3 sixes and 3 fours to his name in the match. The stylish batsman certainly entertained the fans at the venue with some exquisite stroke play in the match. The highlight among all shots was a check shot that he hit in the early stages of the innings.
The action perspired in the 9th over of the game. Corey Anderson bowled a good length delivery as Virat Kohli had full extension of his arms to hit the ball over the covers. It looked as if Kohli played a check shot but it was timed so sweetly that the ball sailed over the extra covers for a six. The commentators went on to quote it as the shot of the tournament.
