David Warner was presented with a unique challenge of batting at night with lights turned off by the consumer appliance giants LG Australia. Promoting the LG TV, the challenge was named ‘#WarnersNightTest’. The inaugural and experimental day-night Test will be played at Adelaide Oval with a pink Kookaburra ball in the third match of the ongoing series between Australia and New Zealand.
The match begins on the 27th of November and will be keenly watched by fans across the world. In this video we see Warner entering the arena wearing his batting gear and traditional whites. He says that the ball might be difficult to sight the ball under lights in the day-night Test hence he has to practice. LG has come up with an extreme challenge and make it difficult for Warner.
With lights at the stadium being turned off, the hard hitting left-hander could not see the ball initially. He later states that he could see only fluorescent light and struggled early on however once he got his eye in, he felt much confident and got into comfortable positions allowing him to play all the shots.
Warner smashed the ball and started playing shots all-round the wicket. Explosive colours cannot be described hence the company decide to showcase these by switching off the stadium lights and using a perfect black background. It appears only the camera lights were on the video highlights the impact of vibrant colours. Warner signs off on a lighter note with a statement about the Kiwis!
