Watch: David Willey sends back Sabbir Rahman with a spectacular catch

Modern day fielding standards have reached unimaginable standards. A decade ago, the least athletic fielder of the team would be normally stationed at the boundary ropes. Their job was mainly to make sure they save boundaries. High catches don’t ask for instant reaction and generally give ample time for the fieldsman to judge the ball and grab the catch.

However, the last few years, we have seen a dramatic change in the fielding attitude. These days being the least athletic guy in the team is unacceptable and improvisation is the best asset you can have as  a fielder. This change in the fielding attitude has made players get involved in some stunning stuff, giving some fans spectacular moments to enjoy.

David Willey gave one such wonderful moment today during 1st ODI between the England and Bangladesh after the left arm fast bowlers grabbed a fantastic running catch to dismiss Sabbir Rahman. The right-hander crunched the last ball of the 14th over, a shorter ball, towards deep midwicket region.

The ball seemed to be clearing the rope clearly but then Willey came in running and stunned everyone grasping the ball inside the boundary. He reached in time but was forced to throw the ball up as his running momentum pushed him outside the boundary ropes. He realised that he was going to go over the line so flicked the ball back inside only to leap back into the playing area again and getting the hold of the ball.
