Melbourne Renegades needed 25 off the last 12 balls. Things were made tough for Dwayne Bravo and Matthew Wade after a miserly 17th over by West Indian leg-spinner Samuel Badree.

Mark Steketee was to bowl the crucial penultimate over. But, Bravo was ready to make up for the loss in the previous over. He smacked the first two balls of the over for massive sixes and topped it with a boundary of the fifth ball. Bravo was in full flow.

Steketee was under pressure as Bravo had allowed him no space to breathe in this over. The effect was clearly visible as he bowled consecutive wides. One ball was still left for the over to finish and the Renegades now required only five to win the game.

It was obvious for him to go for the winning runs. And, he did exactly the same. Bravo went for the finish; he wildly swung the bat but made no connection. Instead, his bat slipped out of his hand and went flying to the square leg. The ball was full and wide and Bravo missed it. Luckily there were no fielders around.

Matthew Wade duly finished the unfinished work in the next over, hitting two boundaries off the first three balls and sealing the game for the Renegades. It was an equal contest between both the teams. Melbourne Renegades started their season with a perfect chase. Aaron Finch led excellently with clever innings of 65 and was ably supported by Cameron White, who also made an excellent fifty. In the end, the chase was spiced up with some Caribbean flavors as Dwayne Bravo applied the finishing touch.
