Ed Joyce the Irish batsman would have earned new regards for this phenomenon today.

As Amjad Javed bowled a beauty of a delivery to Joyce, it was an in swinging ball pitching perfectly in the area of uncertainty. He went for his shot but was nowhere close to it and the ball nicked the stumps and landed in the keeper’s gloves. But the batsman and the umpire noticed something different. The bails despite being lodged off the stumps when the ball made contact, stayed on the stumps after coming down.
The replays showed that the contact had disturbed the off stump enough to dislodge the bail, but the bail fell back into the groove of the stump and Ed Joyce lived to carry on his innings.

The UAE players were highly amused at the proceedings and could do nothing but check the bails and the stumps and smile in frustration to their lack of luck.
