In the 70s and 80s, there were just a few players who were internationally revered as perhaps the best in the world. Pakistan’s Imran Khan and Australia’s Dennis Lillee are perhaps two of the most impressive cricketers during their respective times.

While they would have faced each other on several occasions during their time as World Series Cricketers under the Kerry Packer banner, it seems highly likely that they played their best against each other when they were playing each other whilst playing for their respective countries.

Dennis Lillee was the sort of bowler who had his tail fired up for the most part of his bowling career. This also ensured that he was able to get the wickets he wanted whilst being in the batsman’s face. Of course, a hallmark of his bowling acumen was terrifying pace that he shared with his partner Jeff Thomson during the glory days of Australian cricket.

However, while bowling against the likes of Imran Khan and Sir Viv Richards, it seems quite clear that there is a manner in which Lillee needs to tread rather slowly and with little or no problems.

The video attached to this post enumerates the way in which even the best of the bowlers can come into problems each time there is a collision between a great bowler and a great batsman. However, this was soon cleared up when Imran smashed the ball to the point boundary.

However, overthrows prevailed as Imran and Miandad ran seven runs across the 22 yards and completed an impressive 7 runs. A hallmark of this was also the fact that they ran all the runs and not one delivery reached the fence during the entire ordeal. It also proves the fitness of the players of the time.
