The third Test between India and Australia has seen some fierce tussle between the players. Amidst such heated environment, a very funny incident took place on the penultimate day’s play. Australian wicketkeeper Matthew Wade tried to replicate MS Dhoni’s trademark run out style but ended up making himself a butt of jokes on the day.

The Indian batsmen resumed the day 4 with Cheteshwar Pujara and Wriddhiman Saha continuing the overnight total of 360/6 for the hosts. Both batsmen made the Australian bowlers toil hard and milked runs at will on the day. A marathon stand between the two players, combined by a late cameo by Ravindra Jadeja saw India take a lead in excess of 150 in the first innings.

Saha scored a masterly 117 on the day and Pujara entered record books with a marathon knock of 202 that lasted over 500 deliveries and close to 8 hours stay at the crease. Later, the Indians managed to take two wickets of Australia to have a strong hold on the game.

Coming to the funny moment of the day, it was Matthew Wade who tried to be cheeky with his moves. When Pujara and Saha were batting well in tandem, the Aussies needed a spark of brilliance on the field to lift themselves up in tough conditions. Perhaps this is something that was on his mind when Wade tried to do a Dhoni.

Dhoni, the former Indian skipper and the limited-overs wicketkeeper of India, is renowned for his ‘surprise’ runouts. He pretends as if he will be collecting the ball from the fielder with ease but then suddenly ends up propelling it to the stumps. At times, he directly pushes the ball on the stumps instead of collecting it and then hitting the stumps. When Pujara and Saha were running for a run on day 4, the fielder from fine leg region the ball to Matthew Wade.

Wade, in an attempt to stun the batsmen, pretended as if there was no chance of a runout. He then suddenly let the ball go with the flow in inertia and gave it a bit of momentum with his hands, hoping it would hit the stumps. But, he failed miserably as the ball went past the stumps. And since there were no fielders to back up, the Indians managed to steal another run as well.
