Watch: Mike Hussey take the best catch of the Big Bash League: The New Years bash for cricket fans around the world has to be with the Big Bash League (BBL). The Australian domestic T20 League which also hosts current and former cricketing stars from around the world is at the centre of attraction, being the only T20 tournament around as international cricket is hosting test matches around the world. The quality and intensity of cricket that is played at the BBL is second to none and every game is guarantees a better batting display, an even spirited bowling effort, some even more electric fielding and catching.

The Sydney Thunders vs Perth Scorchers match was expected to be the game of the Scorchers who are the defending champions of the BBL. But South African all-rounder and arguably the best to have played modern-day cricket Jacques Kallis had his own plans. The veteran with his worth helped the Thunders to beat the Perth Scorchers for the first time in BBL history.

Though remains to be Kallis the star line and highlight of the match, we also saw Mike Hussey pluck a blinder to fascinate everybody that was watching. Coincidentally Kallis continued to keep his name there at the other end being the bowler to conceive the wicket taking delivery.

Ashton Turner who was new at the crease as Kallis took the 3rd wicket of the match on the first ball of the 6th over. Turner played three dot balls as the Scorchers batting was pressed under pressure at 41 for 4 inside 7 overs. The 4th ball which was another eventful delivery from Kallis, the bowler had maintained a shortish line for most of his spell, pitched one a little ahead to draw the batsman forward. The ball had enough merit to take the outside edge off Turner’s blade.
It flew and away, at first sight looked too good for Hussey as well, but Mr. Cricket always finds better ways to astonish cricket lovers. Hussey stretched every muscle in his body almost to its elastic limit, slid a few steps and got his hands to the ball. Anything that comes into those magnetic hands sticks inside them so did this ball. And one could not help but clap for the sheer effort, class and commitment Mike Hussey brings into cricket even post retirement age.
