Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) finally got back to winning ways as they held back a strong RCB side in their own backyard by 27 runs on Sunday. A resurgent bowling performance scripted the win which was only the second one for RPS in five games so far this season.
MS Dhoni hasn’t had the best of seasons so far and has been in the news for his below par performance. He got some runs under his belt against RCB batting at No. 4 for the first time this year. His 25-ball 28 included 3 boundaries and a massive six off Yuzvendra Chahal which hit the roof of the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. It was vintage Dhoni on display as his innings was nicely paced and the moment it started looking threatening, the 35-year old chopped one back onto his own stumps off the bowling of Shane Watson.
On reaching the hotel after the win, the RPS team was presented with a victory cake. A video of the celebrations has surfaced on the social networking site Instagram and Dhoni was seen happy with the win as he led the celebrations.
The 35-year old was prompting his teammates to eat the cake, “Abey Khaana, bhaiyya, bohot achcha cake hai! Ek adha lo aur ek face pey lagalo”
Dhoni, who is otherwise very subdued with his celebrations on the field, savours his team’s victory a lot as he has always carried a stump post a win in his career. He reserves his celebrations from the cameras but otherwise is expressive off the field.
He was also responsible for sending back the dangerous looking AB De Villiers when he was involved in a smart stumping off the bowling of Imran Tahir.
Dhoni will like to get more runs in Pune’s next game which is against Sunrisers Hyderabad at home on Saturday.
