India recently wrapped up the ODI series against England by a scoreline of 2-1 and the highlight of the series was the way veteran southpaw Yuvraj Singh and off-duty man MS Dhoni charted out their vintage best. Dhoni announced earlier this year that he will be stepping down as captain from limited-overs format, and that certainly gave him the license to go after the opposition’s bowling attack.

He did come up with a fabulous 134-run knock during the 2nd ODI at Cuttack, apart from adding vital runs on other occasions. Dhoni, the keeper is one of the best in the business. He has the fastest hands, bulls-eye throws from the back of his hands and predicting the batsman’s next move are some of his USP’s.

One such incident took place during the 1st T20I match between India and England at Kanpur. England batsman Joe Root was at the crease and the bowler was rookie leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. Dhoni was caught on the stump mic saying ” Ye aage nikal ke marega, tu aage hi gend rakh,” (He will step out to hit you, you keep the full).

Root did step out of the crease next ball and it resulted in a boundary. He went on to score an unbeaten run-a-ball 46. This was not the first time when MSD passed on his sharp analysis to the bowler. He has often been heard telling the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin, Suresh Raina, and Ravindra Jadeja to bowl according to the batsman’s intent.

India lost the 1st T20I by 7 wickets, as England put together a neat finish. Mooen Ali received the man of the match award for his match-turning figures of 2/21, that included the wickets of in-form skipper Virat Kohli and Manish Pandey. For India, MS Dhoni top scored with an unbeaten 36 while Raina chipped in with 34. England skipper Eoin Morgan top-scored for the visitors with 51.
