In the Sydney derby that took place in BBL, between the Sydney Thunders and Sydney Sixers, the Thunders again managed to get the better out of the Sixers. During the intensely fought match an interesting incident took place. In the 12th over, with the Sixers well in the game, requiring 88 runs from 50 balls which is an easier chase in the T20 format, SS batsman Nic Maddinson’s bat chipped into two halves.

Chris Green bowled a full toss as Maddinson who was looking good at the moment came down the track trying to drill it through the off side. But as soon as he made contact with the ball, his bat carved into half and came off while one part was still in his hand the other flew all the way to the non-strikers end as the ball rolled onto cover.

It was a hilarious moment as everyone burst into laughter at the moment including the crowd. Maddinson had to call out for a bat change. The change of bats didn’t work quite well for the skipper as he got out the very next over having scored 70 off 40 balls, thus ending all hopes of a Sixers victory.

Earlier in the game, Watson led the charge for Thunders to propel their total to a massive 202/5. Maddinson briefly threatened to take the game away before he mishit one shot.
