R Ashwin

R Ashwin, the master off-spinner, has been a lethal weapon in India’s armoury and has delivered the goods whenever called upon. He has troubled the South African batsmen in the ongoing series with guile, variations and accuracy. R Ashwin’s ability to make an immediate impact on the game has been evident throughout the series. He used the carom ball to great effect during the Nagpur Test match and perplexed many batsmen. He possesses different types of deliveries and has superb control over it.

In the 4th and final Test at Delhi, during South Africa’s second innings, he unleashed yet another variation, the leg spin. He bowled with brilliant control and even troubled AB de Villiers and Hashim Amla. The South African captain was lucky to survive on one of the deliveries that bounced. Trying to defend it he nearly gave a catch to the short-leg fielder.

AB got an absolutely cracking delivery that bounced, took the edge and went to gully region. Fortunately for him there was no fielder there and he survived. Ashwin bowled many leg spinning deliveries and kept the batsmen guessing.

His performances have already won India the series however Ashwin looks determined to get his team another Test victory. He has already picked both the South African wickets to fall on day 4. The visitors are looking to play out a draw, however, will find it difficult on the final day against Ashwin and Jadeja. With 8 wickets in hand and Amla and AB well set, the prospects of a fascinating last day loom large. The off-spinner will keep mixing his deliveries like he expertly did on day 4.
