Watch: Rajkot joins Cheteshwar Pujara’s family in century celebrations

India No. 3 Cheteshwar Pujara added weight to his reputation of being a reliable batsman today after he cracked his 9th Test ton to help India continue in gaining a firm grip over the match on day three of the first Test against England. The century happens to be very special as it came in front of his home crowd and more importantly in front of his family members.

One camera was permanently staring at Cheteshwar Pujara’s wife Pooja Pujara and father Arvind Pujara to capture their reaction as Cheteshwar neared his ton. It was quite obvious that as soon as the right-hander reached his century, there was ecstasy everywhere. While Pooja raised both her hands and jumped up of the seat, Arvind Pujara, a proud coach as well, was bombarded with congratulatory handshakes from the people who were sitting around him.

One could easily sense that the joyous moment had overshadowed the cricketer’s milestone itself; a very good thing to happen anyway. In fact, it was also a time to be relieved. Every time England rose to appeal against the Pujara, there was a sudden anxious moment for his wife and father.

It was a knock that Indian fans were asking for after the England trio of Joe root, Moeen Ali and Ben Stokes smashed tons and guided England to 537 runs in the first innings. With quality bowling attack to deal with and deteriorating pitch, India had an uphill task to achieve. But, all the worries, at least as of now, have been put to rest.
