Kolkata Knight Riders sealed their playoffs spot last night after defeating table-toppers Sunrisers Hyderabad in their own backyard. It was a strong performance from the two time Indian Premier League (IPL) winners as they look to continue the momentum, going into the business end of the tournament.
However, during yesterday’s fixture, SRH speedster Bhuvneshwar Kumar suffered a hysterical runout. Kumar, who made a comeback into the Sunrisers side after sitting out with a minor injury had come in to bat in the last over of the innings. He got the strike on the last ball after a flurry of wickets in the previous over. The SRH bowling spearhead tried to connect on a slower bouncer from Prasidh Krishna. The intention was to sneak a single through byes but Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper Dinesh Karthik caught hold of it.
Karthik had adequate time as he aimed for the stumps. Bhuvneshwar was left stranded as the non-striker Siddharth Kaul decided not to go for a run. Bhuvi was way out of the crease and had no chance to make his ground and he didn’t even make an attempt thus departing for a golden duck.
The duo later seemed to agree that there was no single as they walked back to the dressing room. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was Karthik’s third victim of the night. The last over from Prasidh was a game changer as he conceded just 4 runs as he returned with stunning bowling figures of 4 wickets for 30 runs.

Kumar hasn’t been impressive of late
The 28-year-old has failed to be impressive in the last few games. He was finessed by Rishabh Pant during his whirlwind record-breaking century at Feroz Shah Kotla stadium. His bowling in the death overs has also taken a hit. Though SRH occupies the pole position in the points table, Kumar will be keen to find his rhythm back ahead of the much important qualifiers.
