Watch: Steve Finn’s nasty bouncer fractures Warner’s left thumb: Although, the Australian team is riding high on success after their triumphant performances in the ODI series till now, but after the 2nd ODI match also came about a bad news for the tourists as the vice-captain of the side; David Warner was ruled out of competitive cricket for 4-6 weeks due to a fractured left thumb. In the second ball of the 1st over at Lord’s, the lanky English pacer Steve Finn had a delivered a ferocious bouncer which had hit his left thumb very brutally and Warner was spotted having sharp pain in his thumb.
Finn’s lethal bouncer upfront proved too hot to handle for Warner. The Australian southpaw had taken his eyes off the ball and had jumped in the air while ducking the ball which is never a right technique of facing an immaculate bouncer. Warner had got it horribly wrong while Steve Finn had executed a nasty bouncer on which any fast bowler would be proud off. As a result of the injury, Warner couldn’t further bat in the innings and had to retire hurt. Later the scans revealed that the blistering Australian opener had a fracture in his left thumb which also means that it is highly unlikely that he would be able to make a cut in the Australian squad for the Bangladesh tour.
The Australian team had batted brilliantly in the 2nd ODI and Warner’s departure didn’t have any significant impact on the game as the visitors amassed a big total of 309 runs on the board. Australian’s won the match by 64 runs and are leading the 5-match ODI series by 2-0.
