Back in 2011, Yusuf Pathan was one of the most sought after cricketers when it came to playing the limited overs formats. While he did indeed have somewhat of a swagger about him when he batted, his batting philosophy was quite clear, to say the least. His philosophy was to put bat to ball and with all the power one can muster.

However, in recent times, the older of the Pathan brothers has become somewhat of an outcast when it comes to playing in the Indian team. However, in spite of being frozen out along with a few prominent players including his younger brother Irfan, the fact of the matter remains that he is supremely talented. Evidence of which can be found in the fact that he was a part of the side that lifted the 2011 World Cup.

Despite this, Yusuf Pathan is once again in the doldrums of domestic cricket. Each time the general public gets to view his batting prowess he is available to be seen in the Indian Premier League where he plays for the Kolkata Knight Riders.

His ability to score runs quickly – he had the highest strike rate in the 2006-07 Ranji Trophy (min 200 runs) – coupled with impressive performances in the one-day Deodhar Trophy and Twenty20 domestic tournament in the 2006-07 season was rewarded with a spot in India’s squad for the inaugural World T20, in South Africa.

In recent times, his incredible personal charisma is something that has served him rather well. Once again, evidence of this particular thing can be found in the fact that he attempts to show his son how the cartwheel is done. A fit man despite his 33 years of age, Yusuf Pathan did the cartwheel. His son, clearly impressed by the ordeal went ahead and attempted one, much to the pride of his father playing the role of the onlooker.
