Meg Lanning struck a 40-ball 76 with 12 fours and a six to put on a 93-run opening stand with Elyse Villani in only 9.2 overs and ease the chase. Lanning now has scores of 70, 75 and 76 in her last three innings in this tournament.

The win against the Thunder was 5th of the tournament for the Scorchers who need a maximum of three more wins from the next four matches. On the other hand, the Sydney Thunder are a win away from claiming the top stop from the Sydney Sixers once again. Rachael Haynes’s fifty in her 50th WBBL game and quick-fire knocks from Rachel Priest (43) and Harmanpreet Kaur (45) took Thunder to 179/5 in their 20 overs. The three WBBL games played in the last season at this venue recorded totals under 150. Target under 140 were chased down by Scorchers with six wickets and seven balls to spare but in pursuit of 145, the Perth side lost by a one-run margin.
