The Hobart Hurricanes are out of the contention for a final four finish having only two of their ten matches in this season thus far. Their five-match losing streak came to an end when they defeated Brisbane Heat before going down against them by 58 runs on the very next day. They will face in-form Melbourne Renegades in their first game of the year. Renegades eyeing a top-four finish after back to back wins over the Melbourne Stars.

The Renegades clinched a 1-wicket win at the Docklands before a big 48-run win at the MCG on the new-year day. Renegades have nine points from their nine matches having won four and another game ending without a result. The Renegades will take on the Hurricanes with an unchanged squad that defeated the Stars twice. The Hurricanes have brought back Katelyn Fryett who is yet to play her first match of this season. She takes the place of the pace-bowling veteran Veronica Pyke.

Match Details:

The match starts at 2:50 PM local time (3:50 AM GMT) (9:20 AM IST).

The game will be live on Sony SIX and Sony SIX HD in India. Live streaming is available on Sony Liv.

Pitch Condition/Report:

The Geelong pitch might not be any different from the pitches seen over the last few days across BBL and WBBL. This venue hosted only two Women’s T20 matches thus far; one being a T20I in 2017 and WBBL game in 2018. Both were part of a doubleheader followed by a Men’s match.

The T20 between Australia and New Zealand saw the hosts getting reduced to 61/9 in 13 overs in response to New Zealand’s 101/9 from 20 overs. The WBBL game was slightly better as it witnessed a Tie with both teams making 120 apiece.

(Will be added when there is an update)

Power Picks:

Smriti Mandhana and Danielle Wyatt came into the tournament with great hope for their respective teams. However, both couldn’t get going and failed to convert the starts. The slow tracks in the latter half of the tournament didn’t help their cause either. Both of them could be coming out with to change the things quickly.

Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:

The International players Heather Knight, Sophie Molineux and Amy Satterthwaite are expected to play a crucial role with both bat and ball. Molineux opening the batting will make her a straight pick as captain. Mandhana and Wyatt will be risky picks for multipliers in the current situation.

Expert Advice:

For fitting Knight, Molineux, Satterthwaite, Mandhana and Wyatt in the same XI, adjustments have to be made by picking players with lower credits. These five eat up 49 credits leaving only 51 for the remaining six. A maximum of three players with nine credits can be picked as there is a possibility of the picking remaining three of 8 credits.
