Virat Kohli could not set the stage on fire with the willow in his 200th IPL match. The RCB skipper’s innings lasted just 4 balls, and the 32-year-old was trapped plumb in front of the stumps by Prasidh Krishna and was dismissed for 5 runs.

And, cricket pundits and commentators had analyzed Kohli’s technique and his vulnerability against the incoming delivery. But then, former Indian cricketer Parthiv Patel feels that credit should be given to the bowler as well, and the delivery to which Kohli was dismissed to, is one of the toughest that a batsman can face.

Patel admitted that Kohli’s head position was a little out of place, but it is not a cause for concern. Adding that Kohli might have missed the delivery because of the mental space that he was in, the 36-year-old Patel felt that people are analyzing Kohli’s dismissal too much.

“I think sometimes you have to give the credit to the bowler as well. It is one of the most difficult balls to face. Yes, the head position is slightly out but it’s always been the case with Virat Kohli.

“It’s not like it’s first time. Because of the form he is in, because of maybe the mental space he is in, that is the reason why he has missed that ball, I think. We are just probably over-analyzing it way too much,” said Patel in a chat on Star Sports.

Virat Kohli’s head position is not as bad as we are trying to talk about it: Parthiv Patel

Parthiv Patel also said that if Virat Kohli was at his prime, he would have dispatched the same delivery to the boundary through the leg side. Adding that it is just a matter of time before Kohli returns back to form, Patel concluded by stating that people are trying to read too much into Kohli’s head position.

“If he was in prime form, we have seen him hit those boundaries from mid-on till fine leg. So, I think it’s just a matter of time. I don’t think we need to read too much into that head position. It was not as bad as we are trying to talk about it,” concluded Patel.
