'We have a lot of similarities' - AB de Villiers opens up on his bond with Mashrafe Mortaza

South African legendary batsman AB de Villiers never leaves a chance to amaze fans by his ace batting and fielding skills on the ground. Apart from being a terrific sportsperson, he is an equally good human being, who never shies to pour good words about his teammates openly. Recently, he stated that he and former Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza share a lot of similarities, and it helped the Proteas player to ply his trade well in Bangladesh Premier League.

AB featured for Rangpur Riders in the BPL and flaunted his class during his journey in the 2018 edition of the league. He is of the opinion that he shares a great bond with Mortaza, who is regarded as the best captain of the Bangladesh team so far. Both the players share ‘never give up spirit’ for the game to make it more happening.

“We have a lot of similarities, and I think that’s why we got along so well. He also got the same credentials in a way he loves to fight never say die kind of character, and he loves the pressure moments, and, he loves the person to stand up at the pressure moments so, there is a lot of similarity between us,’’ said AB on an exclusive show with Cricfrenzy.

De Villiers further spoke that he enjoyed the company of the former Bangladesh skipper a lot. He is a fun-loving person just like him and also remains calm under pressure situations, which is a significant trait of a skipper always.

“There are a lot of things that we see each other, and we really enjoyed as players, and that is why I really enjoyed playing under him, I had a lot of fun as the captain, and he is calm under pressure. He always got the team in mind instead of individuals,” he concluded.

Mr 360 is currently in UAE prepping up for the upcoming IPL along with his RCB teammates. Though the franchise hasn’t been able to make a mark yet in the mega event, they will try their best to clinch their maiden title.
