'We never really spoke but thought of each other as arrogant' - Jasprit Bumrah on his relationship with wife Sanjana

India pacer Jasprit Bumrah got married to sports presenter Sanjana Ganesan earlier this year on March 15. Not many were aware of his relationship with Sanjana and even the wedding was close knit affair which took place in Goa. He is currently in England featuring in the ongoing Test series against the home team and his wife has also accompanied him on the tour.

Recently, he was involved in a friendly chat with Dinesh Karthik on Sky Sports where he explained how the relation between him and Sanjana blossomed. Interestingly, Bumrah revealed that without speaking to each other the couple thought that the other one is arrogant. However, the situation changed during the interactions in the 2019 World Cup in England.

“I had obviously seen her a lot of times but we had the same problem with each other. She thought I was really arrogant, I thought she was really arrogant so we never really spoke. I spoke to her for the first time during the 2019 World Cup when she was here covering the event. We became friends and started talking a lot. It’s been good, we have been married for five months now, so yeah very happy,” Bumrah recalled.

Really happy the way this relationship has developed, says Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah is in a happy space right now and credits the same to his relationship with Sanjana. He is happy with the way things have gone in life and believes having wife on tours helps him switch off after the game. Moreover, the 27-year-old also benefits from the fact Sanjana understands the game well.

“She understands the sport, she understands what the player goes through, so whenever things don’t go well or go well, we have a lot of interesting conversations, that really helps me. And, obviously, playing cricket and travelling all the time, you’ve got your wife with you now, so, you really have to focus on other things as well.

“You can switch off after the game. All these factors are really helpful and I’m really happy how this relationship has developed,” Bumrah further added.
