Mumbai Indians pacer Jasprit Bumrah admitted that they have produced below-par performances so far in their IPL 2022 campaign but he still feels that his side can make a strong comeback in the upcoming games. The Rohit Sharma-led side has now lost six games in a row and is the only team in this edition without a win so far. Despite changing the personnel in the bowling setup, the results haven’t gone the Mumbai way.

Mumbai won the toss and chose to bowl against the Lucknow Super Giants and the move did not work as they would have liked as LSG posted 199 on the board on the back of KL Rahul’s fine century. Chasing 200 to win, Mumbai were off to a disastrous start by losing both their openers in quick time. Dewald Brewis did show some promising signs however, once Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed, the equation got tougher for the Mumbai side. Kieron Pollard and Unadkat tried their hearts out but ended up falling short by 18 runs.

Bumrah was quite optimistic about rising again despite the loss and noted that winning and losing are part and parcel of the game. He revealed his disappointment over losing and felt that nobody outside the team can realize the fight they have been putting in.

“Sir, life has not ended, the sun is going to rise again tomorrow. This is a game of cricket right, somebody has to win, somebody has to lose. We’ve not lost everything in life, somebody has to win, somebody has to lose. We just lost a cricket game. So, that’s the spirit that is there in our cricket team, nobody is as disappointed as we are. Nobody from the outside can see the hard work that we have put in and the fight,” Bumrah said after the defeat to LSG.

Bumrah also noted that they will need some luck to go their way and admitted that their position in the points table depicts the way they have played so far. However, he was confident of making a good comeback in their remaining fixtures although it will be near impossible to make it into the playoffs after their sixth loss already.

“With a lot of games and a little luck here and there, but yeah, it is the way it is. I’m not shying away from that. We were not good enough and the table is not lying. In the rest of the games, we will again give our best shot and try to come out on the better side,” he added.
