Shahrukh Khan is expected to be pinching himself as he was picked by a whopping INR 9 crore by his former franchise Punjab Kings in the ongoing IPL 2022 mega auction. The Tamil Nadu lad has been quite impressive in the domestic tournaments and helped his state win the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy as well with a quickfire knock. He was available in the uncapped Indian all-rounders at a base price of 40 lakh and was sold for a price 20 times more than that.

After an intense battle between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders, Shahrukh finally landed in the hands of Punjab Kings in the end. The 26-year-old played 11 games last season for the Punjab Kings and scored 153 runs at an average of 21.85 and it has to be noted that he had come in to bat at a lot of tough situations. The right-hander can smack sixes out of the ground at will and is looked upon as a future finisher for India.

Shahrukh Khan’s recent numbers in domestic tournaments

Shahrukh continued his good form into the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022 where he finished with 253 runs in eight games at an average of 42.16. But the important factor was his strike rate, which was right among the best in the tournament at 186.02 and he looked in a stupendous form whenever he got a chance.

He has not yet set the stage on fire in IPL and was dropped after a few games as well. However, he might get a lot more opportunities in the upcoming IPL season which he should make the most out of. Shahrukh recently got his maiden call up to the Indian side for the West Indies ODIs but is yet to make his international debut.

He can also contribute with the ball if needed and has already won games for his state from nowhere including a last-ball six in the finals of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021 that helped his side to a title. He will be one of the most-watched cricketers in the upcoming season due to his ability to change games on its head.
