We'll put in our 100 percent to see Eden Gardens in Qualifiers: Shreyas Iyer

Kolkata Knight Riders captain Shreyas Iyer was delighted to know that qualifiers will take place at the Eden Gardens and was willing to take his side to the playoff stage by any means. However, the equation is not getting easier by any means as KKR had lost their last four games on a trot and are yet to find their best combination on the ground.

With teams starting to pile up wins, it will be a dramatic turnaround for KKR if they can get to the playoff stages from here on. They are currently at the eighth position in the points table and they have lost two games that went down right into the wire. The side has been making a lot of changes including pushing Sunil Narine up the order but they will need a steady opening partnership for the strong middle order to capitalize on.

It’s just the execution part where we are lacking: Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer, who is the top scorer for the KKR side with 248 runs in eight games so far, noted how he still has belief in the team to make it to the playoffs and felt that they have lacked only in the execution part. He added on giving 100 percent in the remaining games to make sure they can make it to the playoffs and was quite motivated with the qualifiers confirmed to be held in Kolkata in front of the home crowd.

“We got off to a really good start with three wins out of four games but after that things didn’t go pretty well for us but I still believe in the team. We are ticking all the boxes to get on to the field and win matches. It’s just the execution part (where we are lacking). It’s just a matter of time once we get going, we will be unstoppable as a team,” Iyer was quoted by KKR’s official website.

“We just got to know the qualifiers are at the Eden Gardens so we’ll put in our 100 percent efforts to see to it that we win the games and go out there and entertain the fans. The atmosphere has been amazing right from the start. The results are part and parcel of the game and definitely, the way we have been preparing as a team it is simply outstanding and people are putting in hard yards to see to it we win matches,” he added.
