Sarfraz Ahmed is slowly but surely becoming controversy’s favourite child. The former Pakistani captain is known for being outspoken and usually for his gestures both on and off the field. When he was the leader of the Men in Green, he was repeatedly chastised for shouting at his players for their mistakes and often looking miffed off with their efforts.

His biggest folly came when he, along with his teammates were seen having a gala of time before the 2019 World Cup game against India. He won the toss and chose to bowl first, the decision for which he was slaughtered on social media. During the match, he was caught yawning after a break and this image was widely circulated on social media, as Pakistan was beaten once again by the Men in Blue.

Sarfaraz Ahmed now in hot soup due to his racist comment

It seems controversy isn’t leaving Sarfaraz alone, as he was recently seen talking about the colour of his skin whole completing a session of training on the gym. In a video widely circulated on social media, the former captain is seen saying that “We are looking gora (fair) bro.” It might look like a nothing comment to many of the cricketing fans, but when seen in some context, it feels more than just a sentence.

Here’s how Twitter reacted

In 2019, the then captain has courted a huge controversy when in an ODI against South Africa in the rainbow nation, he was heard on the stump mic using racial slurs in Urdu against the Proteas all-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo, when he was hitting some lusty blows to aid his team’s score. Sarfaraz had said, “Abey kaale, teri ammi aaj kahaan baitheen hain? Kya parwa ke aaye hai aaj?”

After facing flak from all around Sarfaraz Ahmed had apologized to Phehlukwayo in person as well as the rest of the South Africa team. ICC went ahead and banned Sarfraz for four matches. Now when the two incidents are seen in the same light, it seems Sarfaraz is obsessed with fair skin and also that he cannot control what he says, when he says especially in the age of social media.
