The limited-overs series between India and West Indies is all set to kickoff on Sunday. While the Windies received a 2-0 drubbing at the hands of the No.1 ranked Test team, the ODIs and the T20Is are going to be a different ball game altogether. The Caribbeans have a much better and more competitive line-up for the shorter formats of the game thus makes the series exciting.

Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is looking forward to the new challenge that awaits the team. The 28-year-old had a decent outing in Asia Cup where he picked 6 wickets at an economy rate of 4.69. He addressed the upcoming series and his bowling strategies.

Windies is good preparation for the Australian tour

Chahal is aware of the Caribbean team’s credentials in white ball cricket. The Indian wrist spinner is in no mood to take them lightly. At the same time, he also felt that the current series was going to be a good preparation for the upcoming challenges Down Under.

“I am not going to take the West Indies team lightly. They are an amazing side in limited overs cricket. They have game changers and big hitters. It is going to be an exciting series. The limited overs series against the West Indies will be good preparation for me for the tour of Australia. I just want to give my best in the series. Be fully prepared for the Australian tour,” he told TOI.

I believe in trying different variations and confusing the batsmen

The leg-spinner didn’t have a great England tour. Chahal is aware of his failures and feels that it was a learning curve for him. He continued to detail his strategies while bowling and how he manages to bamboozle the batsmen with his variations.

“I learnt a lot from both the Asia Cup and the England tour. I know I failed to take too many wickets but both series taught me a lot. Put pressure and take wickets, that’s my mantra. Sometimes, controlling the run flow is more important than taking wickets. I believe in trying different variations and confusing batsmen,” he stated.
