After a pulsating second game, the West Indies and India would be locking horns in the third T20I at the Warner Park Basseterre, St Kitts on Tuesday, August 2. After facing a humiliating 68-run defeat in the series opener, the hosts showed a great intent and bounced back by coming out on top in a final-over thriller.
With the series level at 1-1, both teams would be hoping to get one more win under their belt in order to take a series lead. The pressure would be on the Indian batters to stage a comeback after being outclassed by left-arm pacer Obed McCoy, who starred with figures of 6/17 from his four overs, including a maiden at an economy of 4.3.
Meanwhile, youngster Avesh Khan would also be hoping to make a strong comeback after failing to get the job done for his side in the final over. Skipper Rohit Sharma had given him the responsibility to bowl the last over of the contest over an experienced Bhuvneshwar Kumar. However, the pressure got the better of him and Avesh was hit for six and four off consecutive deliveries as West Indies crossed the finish line with four balls to spare.
Pitch and conditions
The surface will be balanced for batting just like the previous game. However, the batting team must keep wickets in hand in order to post a huge total on the board. Some runs can be expected even though the pacers might get some purchase on this wicket.
