Preview

Pakistan and West Indies are all set to lock horns in the first game of the four-match T20I series. The opening game is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, July 28 at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.

The Caribbean unit must be high on confidence after beating Australia 4-1 in the five-match T20I series. Pakistan, on the other hand, are coming off five defeats in their last six international matches.

Babar Azam and Co need to get their act together. Barring the game against England in Nottingham where they won, the Men in Green looked out of sorts. The visitors will want to make amends at the earliest.

Pitch Report

The venue in Barbados recently hosted the three-match ODI series between Australia and West Indies and the track wasn’t helpful for the batters. There was variable bounce and chasing wasn’t an easy task. 12 of the 17 T20Is in Barbados have been won by the team, batting first. There are chances of rain around 11 AM in the morning and hence, there could be a short delay.

Avg score: 154 (17 T20Is in Barbados)

Record of chasing teams: Won – 5, Lost – 12, N/R – 0

Probable best batsman of the match

Babar Azam– Pakistan

Babar Azam has been in decent enough form of late. In the T20I series against the Brits, he started with a knock of 85 at the Trent Bridge. Although he managed only 22 and 11 in the next two matches, he didn’t look out of sorts. Against the Caribbean team, the 26-year-old has notched 403 runs from 10 matches at an average of 57.57 with a top score of an unbeaten 97 in Karachi.

Probable best bowler of the match

Hayden Walsh Jr- West Indies

Hayden Walsh has had a tremendous run in recent times. In the five T20Is against the Aussies, the leg-spin bowler picked up as many as 11 wickets and didn’t give away many runs either. Thereafter, he notched a five-wicket haul in the ODI in Barbados, though West Indies lost the match. The tweaker will be looking to carry his form and rattle the Pakistan batters with his guile.

Today’s match prediction: The team, batting first to win the match.
