Preview

Pakistan and West Indies are set to lock horns in the second match of the four-game T20I series on Saturday. The opening game on July 28 was washed off due to rain. To start with, the match was reduced to nine overs per side after which the home team notched 85 for the loss of five wickets.

Kieron Pollard top-scored with an unbeaten nine-ball 22. For the visitors, captained by Babar Azam, fast bowler Hasan Ali was the standout bowler with two wickets at crucial stages.

The second game is a crucial one since the loser of the match will go into the last two matches in a must-win scenario. It also remains to be seen how Pakistan’s batting does in the Caribbean.

Pitch Report

The pitch in Guyana hasn’t historically been a good one for batting. The average score in seven T20Is suggests that a high-scoring match may not be in the offing. The venue has helped the chasing teams and hence, batting second should be the way forward. There are chances of rain from 10 AM onwards and it won’t be a surprise if delays take place.

Avg score: 139 (7 T20Is in Guyana)

Record of chasing teams: Won – 4, Lost – 2, N/R – 1

Probable best batsman of the match

Babar Azam– Pakistan

Babar Azam has been plying his trade for Pakistan over the last six years and his career has only seen an upward trend. Earlier this year, the 26-year-old also churned out a century against South Africa at the SuperSport Park in Centurion. Against the West Indies, Babar has average in excess of 57 from 11 T20Is. The youngster will be looking for a decent outing next time around as well.

Probable best bowler of the match

Hayden Walsh Jr- West Indies

Hayden Walsh Jr has been in stupendous form of late with the ball in hand. He was the top wicket-taker in the T20I series against Australia. The leg-spinner picked up 11 wickets from five games at incredible economy rates. Then in the first ODI in Barbados, he picked up five wickets. The Pakistan batters need to be a tad cautious while facing him.

Today’s match prediction: The team, batting second to win the match.
