Preview:

India Women’s tour of Caribbean started off in a disastrous way as they fell 1-run short of a 226-run chase which they dominated for nearly 40 overs. West Indies came into the game having lost each of their last eight ODI matches. Stafanie Taylor led her team from the front with a 91-ball 94 which included 8 fours and two sixes. Her knock helped the hosts to post 225/7 in their 50 overs.

India had good partnerships at the top but it is their run-rate at which they scored came back to hit them. The absence of Smriti Mandhana in the top-order seemed to have exposed on Friday as they were left with way too many runs to chase. The visitors struggled in the last 10-15 overs on a track which was getting slower. India Women have to wait for one more game for drafting Mandhana into playing XI.

Weather Condition/Report:

Sunday could be a start-spot kind of day at the Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua. Starting from the 11 AM local time, showers are predicted at the venue till the end of the day.

Pitch Condition/Report:

The track at the Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua looked slower during the first ODI but the batters didn’t show many struggles. The two games this venue hosted during the recent Australia series behaved the same way. We could witness another game with a match aggregate around 450 runs on Sunday as well.

Expert Advice:

There is a space of picking at least four Indian players from all-rounders and bowlers’ category. Deepti Sharma and Poonam Yadav will be sure names. Ekta Bisht is the most consistent player among the remaining options. Shikha Pandey makes most on her day while Harmanpreet Kaur is more of a disaster-management. The major impact in the current line-up through Kaur’s performances will be when she walked to bat halfway stage and gets a decent number of overs.

Probable Winners:

India Women are expected to level the series if the weather permits a result.
