India Women continued their winning spree in the Caribbean Islands as they cruised to their 4th consecutive win in the 5-match T20I series against West Indies Women. India rested a couple of key players for this game as they already won the series. The game was reduced to 9 overs-a-side due to the rain. India, who batted first, could only make 50/7 in the restricted 9 overs. The specialist spinners Deepti, Radha and Anuja conceded only 8 runs in the two overs they bowled as the hosts were restricted to just 45/5.

All the statistical highlights from India’s yet another win in the 5-match T20I series:

Defending a small target:

51 – The target of 51 that India successfully defended in this match is the 2nd lowest defended target in any Women’s T20I game. (Including shortened matches) The lowest is 48 runs by Sri Lanka in the 2012 WT20 game also against West Indies.

Sri Lanka were 50/3 in 10.3 overs and the West Indies Women got a revised target of 48 from 8 overs. They finished with 42/8 in the restricted 8 overs and lost the match by 5 runs.

West Indies losing streak:

8 – West Indies Women now have lost each of their last 8 matches in the T20I format. This losing streak began on the England tour this year where only one game took place in the 3-match series. It carried on during the recent 3-match home series against Australia.

The previous worst streak of West Indies Women in this format came in 2014 where they failed to record even one victory in six consecutive T20Is which included five defeats in succession.

Taking a 4-0 lead:

8 – India recorded only the 8th instance of a team winning each of the first four matches of a bilateral T20I series in Women’s cricket. The West Indies Women have been on the receiving end on three such instances – against England in 2012 and against Australia in 2014.

Cleaning up the top order:

2 – Only the 2nd time India Women dismissed opposition’s top three bowled in a T20I match. The other such instance came during the 1st game of the 6-match T20I series against South Africa earlier in September this year.

A T20I without Smriti after 4 years:

56 – The Sunday’s game was the first T20I match played by India Women without Smriti Mandhana in the playing XI since July 2015. In this period, Mandhana featured in 56 consecutive T20I matches played by India Women. This is the 8th most consecutive appearances by any player for a country in Women’s T20Is. She is the only Indian to feature in 50 consecutive T20Is for Men’s or Women’s team.
