Indian opening batsman Rohit Sharma is in the ultimate form of his life without the shadow of any doubt. He used to bat down the order in Test cricket and hasn’t found much success. Rohit Sharma has long been a source of immense frustrations to Indian cricket fans all over the world. But ever since he was promoted to open the blade for India, he made an instant impact cementing an irrefutable claim to greatness.

His exquisite appetite for scoring runs and the knack of channeling his aggression in the right way set him a class apart from most other batsmen in contemporary cricket. Rightly so, it was a major coup to cement his place as an opener, considering the manner in which he has batted for India in the ongoing Test series against South Africa.

His seemingly successful regeneration in Test cricket has created waves. He made his active presence count by scoring twin centuries (176 & 127) in the opening Test match at Visakhapatnam and much to his sheer brilliance in India’s 203-run innings victory, he was rewarded the man of the match. However, Rohit Sharma failed to up the ante in the second match where he got cheaply for just 14 runs in the first innings.

However, in the third match in Ranchi, Rohit Sharma showcased a glimpse of his destructive self as he scampered through his maiden double century, a memorable knock which he would always remember and rejoice for the rest of his life. Rohit Sharma was indeed happy to end nearly 500 days of Test exile. He restored calmness inside the team dressing room and made everyone stand and applaud his crafty knock after dictating tempo in the game. He is not a makeshift Test opener anymore.

Nick Compton not convinced with Rohit Sharma’s overseas record

Though everyone is showering praises on Rohit Sharma’s phenomenal batting traits, England’s former cricketer Nick Compton is not really convinced with what he has so far seen from Rohit Sharma. The former reckons that the latter hasn’t proved to be a real case for himself as a successful Test opener as the real test begins when he finds success in overseas conditions.

“Three hundreds in the series. Record making twin tons as Test opener, maiden Test double ton, five World Cup hundreds and leading MI to an unprecedented fourth IPL title. 2019 is the year of Rohit Sharma. #INDvSA,” Raunak Kapoor tweeted while praising Rohit Sharma.

“What about when he plays overseas?” Nick Compton replied.

“Whatever he does or doesn’t overseas, won’t change what he’s done this year Compo!,” Raunak Kapoor came to Rohit Sharma’s defence to justify the fact that Rohit Sharma has accomplished great achievements this year.
