The opening T20I between Pakistan and England turned out to be a high-scoring affair. Both teams were on a run-scoring spree at Trent Bridge in Nottingham, but in the end, the visitors won by 31 runs.

Most importantly, they took a 1-0 lead in the series after being whitewashed 0-3 in the ODIs. Shaheen Shah Afridi, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan combined to hand the Brits the defeat.

For the hosts, Liam Livingstone notched his maiden T20I century, but his efforts weren’t enough for his team to go over the finishing line. He didn’t quite get a lot of support from the batters in his team.

The second game of the three-match series is scheduled to take place at the Headingley in Leeds on Sunday, July 18.

The match is a must-win affair for Eoin Morgan and Co. The venue has hosted only Tests and ODIs over the years and no T20I has taken place. A thrilling uninterrupted game seems to be in store.

Playing Combinations for ENG vs PAK

England

The hosts may bring in Adil Rashid in place of Matt Parkinson, who went for nearly 12 runs per over without a wicket in the previous game. Dawid Malan fell for a duck and he’ll want to make amends. Lewis Gregory and Saqib Mahmood carried their good form in the T20Is. Jonny Bairstow and Eoin Morgan faltered and the onus will also be on them. The focus will stay on Liam Livingstone.
