Ireland and South Africa were involved in an exciting ODI series where both teams won a game each with one game getting washed out. The two teams are now set to lock horns in a three-match T20I series. The opening game is set to take place on Monday, July 19 at The Village in Dublin.
Both sides have crossed swords in quite a few ODI matches, but the upcoming game will be their first meeting in the T20 format. Simi Singh, Andrew Balbirnie, Janneman Malan and Quinton de Kock stole the show as they all scored centuries. Three of those centuries came in winning causes.
The Proteas, earlier this year, defeated the West Indies 3-2 after losing the opening match of the series. Ireland, on the other hand, would be happy with their performance in the ODIs. Their confidence would have sky-rocketed after their maiden victory over the Proteas at the highest level.

Ireland
Kevin O’Brien is set to return to the T20 format after he retired from ODI cricket back in June. He is set to open the batting with Paul Stirling, who couldn’t quite live up to the expectations in the ODIs. Balbirnie was impressive in the ODIs and he will want to lead from the front. In the bowling department, Little, Young and McCarthy should take charge. Dockrell is also more than handy.
Predicted XI
Paul Stirling, Kevin O’Brien, Andrew Balbirnie (c), Harry Tector/Curtis Campher, George Dockrell, Lorcan Tucker (wk), Mark Adair, Simi Singh, Barry McCarthy, Josh Little, Craig Young
Bench: Graeme McCarter, Curtis Campher/Harry Tector, Shane Getkate, William McClintock, Benjamin White
South Africa
Malan and De Kock should keep open the batting, especially after how they did in the previous match. The middle-order is a power-packed one with the likes of Bavuma, Miller and Klaasen in it. Tabraiz Shamsi was stupendous in the West Indies T20Is and a lot will depend on him as well. He picked up three wickets in the last ODI. The onus will also be on Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada.
Predicted XI
Quinton De Kock (wk), Janneman Malan, Temba Bavuma (c), Rassie Van der Dussen, Heinrich Klaasen, David Miller, Andile Phehlukwayo, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Lungi Ngidi, Tabraiz Shamsi
Bench: Reeza Hendricks, Janneman Malan, George Linde, Dwaine Pretorius, Lizaad Williams, Kyle Verreynne, Bjorn Fortuin, Keshav Maharaj, Beuran Hendricks, Aiden Markram
