Temba Bavuma’s South Africa have already won the three-match T20I series against Ireland. On Thursday, the Proteas beat the hosts by 42 runs to take a 2-0 lead. In the previous game on July 22, David Miller, wrist spinner Tabraiz Shamsi and Bjorn Fortuin came to the rescue of the visiting team.

Miller scored a half-century after his team had lost five wickets in very little time. His partnership with Wiaan Mulder turned out to be crucial in the context of the game. Thereafter, Shamsi and Fortuin turned the screws on the Irish batters as they picked up three wickets each in their spell.

The third encounter of the series is set to take place on Saturday, July 24 at the Civil Service Cricket Club in Belfast. The hosts have been reasonable with the ball, but their batting has looked out of sorts, to say the least. Andy Balbirnie’s men will be looking to restore pride by winning the match.

Ireland

Paul Stirling picked two wickets in the previous game, but his form with the bat has been nothing short of awful. Harry Tector is the leading run-scorer for the home team in the series. Other than him, only Barry McCarthy scored in the 30s. In the bowling department, Mark Adair has picked up five wickets, though at an economy rate of nine. Singh and others have also done pretty well.

Predicted XI

Paul Stirling, Kevin O’Brien, Andrew Balbirnie (c), Harry Tector, George Dockrell, Lorcan Tucker (wk), Mark Adair, Shane Getkate, Simi Singh, Barry McCarthy, Josh Little

Bench: Graeme McCarter, Curtis Campher, William McClintock, Benjamin White, Craig Young

South Africa

For South Africa, David Miller is the leading run-scorer in the series. He is also the only batter in the series to have scored in excess of 100 runs. Quinton de Kock has threatened in both games but is yet to convert his starts. Shamsi has been excellent as he has seven wickets to his name. The experienced left-arm wrist spinner has found a Midas Touch of late and he has done a lot of damage.

Predicted XI

Quinton De Kock (wk), Temba Bavuma (c), Janneman Malan, Aiden Markram, Rassie Van der Dussen, David Miller, George Linde, Kagiso Rabada, Lizaad Williams/Anrich Nortje, Lungi Ngidi, Tabraiz Shamsi
