In the midst of the high-profile Indian Premier League (IPL), South Africa and Pakistan are battling it out in a tantalizing T20I series in the land of the Proteas. While Pakistan won the first T20I, the South African outfit stormed right back in the second rubber and won the match with 6 wickets to spare.

In fact, the hosts produced a comprehensive performance in every department of the game to outclass Pakistan in the second T20I. For Pakistan, only skipper Babar Azam and Mohammad Hafeez stood up with the willow. While Azam scored a sedate half-century, Hafeez scored a 23-ball 32. Apart from these two players, none of the other Pakistan batsmen got going. And, as many as 7 Pakistan willow wielders could not even score in double figures.

For South Africa, it was George Linde who sliced through the visitors’ top order. The left-arm spinner scalped 3 wickets and gave away just 23 runs in his 4 overs. Apart from Linde, newbie Lizaad Williams also picked up 3 wickets as well.

South Africa annihilated the Pakistan bowlers in reply. They reached the target of 141 with as many as 6 overs to spare. The wrecker-in-chief for the Proteas with the willow was Aiden Markram. Continuing from where he left off in the first T20I, Markram slammed a 30-ball 54 to spearhead the South African run chase. Apart from Markram, the likes of skipper Heinrich Klaasen and George Linde blazed away to scintillating cameos.

Both sides will be looking to take an unassailable 2-1 lead when they lock horns in the third T20I at Centurion. Who will emerge on top?

Pitch and Conditions

After playing the first two matches at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, the two teams will now move to Centurion for the final two matches. The pitch at Centurion too will favor the batsmen. The ball will come onto the bat nicely, and the batsmen can cash in if they spend some time in the middle. Expect a run-scoring feast in the third rubber.
