Bangladesh must be high on confidence after their 3-0 series whitewash over Zimbabwe in the ODIs. However, the hosts won’t be overly disappointed with their performances. In all three matches in Harare, the home team got the Tigers on the mat before letting the opposition off the hook.

It’s now time for the T20I series, which gets underway on Thursday, July 22 in Harare itself. Before the first match, the visitors have been jolted with a blow as Tamim Iqbal won’t be a part of the series due to a knee injury. Tamim became the Player of the Match in the third ODI after his 112-run knock.

The Tigers will want to be a bit more clinical in their approach as they head into the 20-over format. The three-match series was earlier scheduled to start on July 23 but had to be preponed by a day due to logistical and scheduling challenges faced by the tour’s broadcast production company

Playing combination for ZIM vs BAN

Zimbabwe

For Zimbabwe, Regis Chakabva was the leading run-scorer of the ODI series with 164 runs. Having scored two half-centuries, he needs to be on top of his game in the T20Is as well. Ryan Burl was brutal in the third T20I and his role will be critical. In the bowling department, Richard Ngarava, Blessing Muzarabani and Luke Jongwe will mostly be in charge to make the regular breakthroughs.

Predicted XI

Tadiwanashe Marumani, Tinashe Kamunhukamwe, Regis Chakabva (WK), Brendan Taylor (C), Ryan Burl, Wesley Madhevere, Sikandar Raza, Luke Jongwe, Blessing Muzarabani, Richard Ngarava, Tendai Chatara

Bench: Timycen Maruma, Wellington Mazakadza, Donald Tiripano, Dion Myers

Bangladesh

In Tamim’s absence, Mohammad Naim should open the batting with Liton Das. It’s also a chance for Soumya Sarkar to show a bit of consistency at the highest level. Nurul Hasan Sohan was stupendous in the last ODI and he’s most likely to get a chance in the lower order. Mustafizur Rahman picked three wickets in the final ODI and his performance, especially at the death will hold a lot of vitality.

Predicted XI

Mohammad Naim, Liton Das (WK), Soumya Sarkar, Shakib Al Hasan, Mahmudullah (C), Afif Hossain, Mosaddek Hossain/Nurul Hasan, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Mehidy Hasan, Shoriful Islam

Bench: Mohammad Saifuddin, Mahedi Hasan, Shamim Hossain, Nasum Ahmed, Aminul Islam Biplob, Nurul Hasan/Mosaddek Hossain
