Just before the final two T20I’s between India and West Indies were played out, the duo of Dinesh Karthik and Ravichandran Ashwin took some time off to attend AR Rahman’s concert. The legendary musician had his show in the United States where the cricketers were also present for the last two T20Is.

The concert took place on 4th of August while the 4th T20I was played on August 6. Thus, the players took some quality time off in order to enjoy the legendary musician’s show. Karthik later went on to Instagram to share a video where the Oscar-winning singer was mesmerizing his audience with songs like ‘Tu hi re’ and ‘Sajra Savera’.

“When AR Rahman’s concert is around, you just can’t miss it”, shared Karthik on his Instagram account.

Karthik also shared a picture on his social media account. The veteran wicketkeeper-batter, who’s considered to be very fashionable in the cricketing world, was wearing a black printed shirt while Ashwin chose to wear a cream-coloured shirt for the concert.

Both Karthik and Ashwin are part of the Asia Cup squad

Ever since their return to the T20I team, both these players have had a remarkable time. Karthik is now recognised as a bonafide finisher while Ashwin has been economical and picked up key wickets. Neither of these players were in the scheme of things before the IPL but has stormed back into the T20I set-up after having a brilliant season.

Despite that, Karthik’s position in the starting XI is a matter of discussion. The experts of the game believe that either Karthik or Rishabh Pant can feature in the playing XI. Same goes for Ravi Ashwin. As India picked four spinners for the Asia Cup, Ashwin’s position in the starting XI is not guaranteed.

They however are backed by captain Rohit Sharma. Dinesh Karthik got plenty of opportunities leading up to the Asia Cup. He now needs to show his class to establish his spot for the T20 World Cup.

Ashwin, on the other hand, was brought back into the T20I set-up for the West Indies tour. The off-spinner took three wickets in three matches with two in the first match itself. His economical spells are what impressed the fans so far.
